I would genuinely buy one for the seat cushioning alone. For that reason, it makes an amazing weight for comfort sleeping - I hold it on top of me while lying down (like a weighted blanket). It's almost 12lbs and is like tossing around a child lmao. I will give props, however, for also being a universal pillow. It just doesn't have much give, your head essentially sits on top of it. It gives me almost instantaneous headaches with how hard it is. I CAN sleep on it and sometimes do on rare occasion but for regular nightly sleep I could not. My partner ONLY sleeps on his though as it does wonders for him, he's a small back sleeper. The regular purple is very very firm in terms of the pillow world. I use it for just about every sleeping position I can dream up. When I'm not sleeping on it, it makes a great between the leg support or arm support. It has the squish of a regular pillow but the support that's needed for a good all nights rest. Again, I have a big frame and the tall was painful. The tall is much too tall for I think 90% of people. ![]() I never did get a low profile one, though, but I bet I'd love it too. If you have allergies or would prefer not to use animal feathers, you'll want to avoid this filling.I have a mid harmony that I love to sleep on but it's a bit tall for my liking (and I'm a bigger framed person). On the other hand, feather fill is breathable because it leaves room for airflow and helps to maintain a cooler sleeping environment for any sweaty folks. However, down pillows tend to be more breathable than memory foam and are ideal for stomach sleepers due to their soft nature. Down and feather fillĭown pillows are usually stuffed with natural filling from ducks and geese and are used primarily to keep people warm. While supportive, traditional block memory foam can retain more heat than shredded memory foam, so it's best to stick with the latter if you sleep hot. Memory foam pillows are made of foam that's engineered with viscose and elastic. "Latex helps dissipate heat and promote airflow," adds Foley. Of all the materials, latex is one of the most cooling materials because it's porous, allowing ventilation of hot air. ![]() Latex pillows are usually made of 100 percent latex or latex derived from rubber. If your head, neck, and shoulders get a little extra sweaty in the p.m., check out these sweat-free options. Similar to cooling mattresses and bed sheets, the best cooling pillows, which are made of breathable materials that regulate temperature, are great options. The good news is that you can set up your bedroom to protect your body from sweltering hot conditions, and no, we're not talking about lowering the temperature on your thermostat (ideal but expensive). Whether it's night sweats, hot flashes, or a case of bad dreams, there's always something that's keeping you up at night and leaving you drenched. Hot sleepers know: It's not easy getting a good night's rest. ![]() While our editors independently select these products, making a purchase through our links may earn Well+Good a commission.
